Salicylic Acid a Powerful Topical Agent
Bad skin can cause low self esteem, interfering with social situations and making it difficult to project confidence. If you have a skin condition such as acne scars, stretched and visible pores, you’ve probably searched for ways to clear up or at least improve your complexion. My recommendation for it is to use salicylic acid based products. Salicylic acid is one of the best ingredients in market for treating such conditions.

Salicylic Acid is a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) derived from the bark of a willow tree. It is powerful exfoliating ingredient. It actually can penetrate into the pores to dissolve dead skin cell build up and encourages the shedding of the top layer of skin which prevents the pores from becoming congested.

Salicylic acid is topical aid in number of different skin conditions caused by thickened, hard skin, such as warts, psoriasis, scaly skin conditions and some nail infections. It helps in removal of excessive keratin in hyper keratotic skin disorders, which means that it works by softening the outer layer of your skin allowing it to loosen and shed. Salicylic acid comes in many different forms from as lotions, creams, chemical peels, cleansing pads and shaving gels.

Salicylic acid is a popular acne treatment because it has the ability to penetrate pores to keep them clear. Salicylic acid helps break down dead skin cells to exfoliate skin, and it can remove dirt, debris, and dead skin cells from inside your pores. Salicylic acid can be applied topically in low concentrations to treat and prevent acne. Regular mild chemical peels with salicylic acid can also help prevent and treat acne. As an added benefit, salicylic acid is a mild antibacterial, which enables it to kill some of the bacteria that contribute to the infections that occur inside of the pores and lead to the formation of acne blemishes.

Dermatologists have discovered the ability of salicylic acid to resurface the complexion making it an effective chemical peeling agent, capable of reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid that can gently penetrate and exfoliate the upper layers of the skin’s surface. Once these upper layers of skin have been removed, new skin can grow in their place. The new skin will be firmer and smoother, with fewer lines and wrinkles.

It has also shown to be effective at lightening skin and reversing sun damage. Salicylic acid can be combined with hydroquinone in mild and medium-depth peels to lighten skin and treat hyper pigmentation problems like melasma or sun spots.

The FDA has listed salicylic acid as “Generally Regarded as Safe”, but some people with sensitive skin experience redness and swelling from the use of the ingredient. Although pregnant women should consult their doctors before using any type of skin care product, salicylic acid is not known to pose risks to fetuses and can be used as a treatment for children
